{"id":8962,"date":"2024-06-28T17:22:42","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T11:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/matribhumisamachar.com\/en\/?p=8962"},"modified":"2024-06-28T17:22:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T11:52:42","slug":"bhupender-yadav-calls-on-brics-nations-to-implement-un-resolution-on-sustainable-lifestyles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.matribhumisamachar.com\/en\/2024\/06\/28\/bhupender-yadav-calls-on-brics-nations-to-implement-un-resolution-on-sustainable-lifestyles\/","title":{"rendered":"Bhupender Yadav Calls on BRICS Nations to Implement UN Resolution on Sustainable Lifestyles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Meeting of BRICS Environment Ministers was held in hybrid format under the Chairship of the Russian Federation on 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June, 2024, and it was participated virtually by Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav.\u00a0\u00a0 It was the first meeting of the BRICS Environment Ministers after joining of\u00a0 five new members, i.e. Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and\u00a0 Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001WLMB.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Union Minister stated that a larger and bigger BRICS can now set\u00a0 the agenda, priorities and way forward for tackling environmental challenges. He stressed that initiatives under BRICS are firmly guided by the principles and goals of the UN system and its agencies, and BRICS nations should ensure that available carbon space is utilised by the Developing Countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image002NRB7.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shri Yadav emphasized\u00a0 the importance of sustainable lifestyles in tackling global environmental challenges. He urged the BRICS nations to promote implementation of the Resolution on Sustainable Lifestyles, adopted at the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image003G6Y2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shri Yadav stressed that the Developing Countries need a level playing field, and asked the Developed Countries to fulfill their obligations for means of implementation, including finances promised at UNFCCC COP and CBD COP. He\u00a0 cautioned that climate finance should not be seen as a means of investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Union Minister\u00a0 highlighted the concrete actions taken by India, both at national level and international level, for addressing the environmental challenges.
