Hyderabad, 25th September 2025:\u00a0<\/strong>The prestigious 2025\u00a0Stanford\/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List<\/strong>, released recently, recognize the top-performing researchers worldwide based on standardized citation metrics. The\u00a0L V Prasad Eye Institute<\/strong>\u00a0(LVPEI) has once again demonstrated its global leadership in ophthalmology research\u00a0with seven LVPEI associated clinician-scientists making it to the lifetime rankings and 15 making it to the annual rankings 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n \n Dr Gullapalli N Rao<\/strong>, Founder Chair \u2013 LVPEI is second in the top lifetime rankings for ophthalmology in India. This recognition is based on his career-long research impact and annual performance in 2024, reaffirming his status as India’s leading scientist in ophthalmology.<\/p>\n \n The Stanford\/Elsevier rankings identify scientists in the top 2% globally, evaluated by career-long and single-year citation data. For 2025, an impressive 61 Indian ophthalmologists made the annual rankings, with 15 affiliated to LVPEI, reflecting the growing excellence and international standing of LVPEI research.<\/p>\n \n Seven LVPEI-associated researchers have earned a place on the Lifetime Ranking for Ophthalmology from India, highlighting their substantial contributions to ophthalmology.<\/p>\n \n This recognition places LVPEI researchers among the most influential scientists in their field, representing robust, world-class research output from India. The continued upward trajectory of LVPEI and Indian ophthalmologists in global rankings underscores India\u2019s position as a powerhouse of innovative, impactful eye research.<\/p>\n \n Fifteen LVPEI-associated researchers earned a place on the Annual Ranking for Ophthalmology from India, highlighting their substantial contributions to ophthalmology.<\/p>\n Jointly developed by Stanford University and Elsevier, the Top 2% Scientists List is based on composite citation scores indexed in Scopus as of August 2025. The calculation includes career-long and single-year metrics, adjustments for self-citation, and fair comparisons across scientific subfields, ensuring rigorous and transparent recognition of global research excellence.<\/p>\n \n About LVPEI:<\/strong>\u00a0 Established in 1987, with the vision,\u201d to create excellent and equitable eye care systems that reach all those in need,\u201d the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), a comprehensive eye health institute, is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness.<\/p>\n \n The LVPEI\u2019s five-tier \u2018Eye Health Pyramid\u2019 model, covering all areas of the community from villages to cities, provides high-quality and comprehensive preventive, curative, and rehabilitative eye care to all. The LVPEI Eye Care Network has 310+ centres across the Indian states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Karnataka.
